Equimat: 30 years on… and still going strong!
Equestrian matting brand, Equimat, is still going strong after 30 years.
Equimat, ‘The Original Interlocking Stable Mat’, has garnered mass appeal in the equestrian community since the 1980s, from grassroots riders to competitive riders, celebrity horse owners to Olympic medallists, and the brand is still going strong today.Over the years many a horse has lain down to sleep, sheltered from the cold, recovered from injury and given birth on Equimats.
The benefits of covering a concrete stable floor with matting, and the protection and comfort it provides, have been noted by The British Horse Society: ‘Rubber matting provides excellent support for the horses’s hooves and limbs and minimises the risk of injury as it covers the concrete floor and provides better grip.*’
Equimat goes one stage further. Unlike other stable mats on the market, Equimat is uniquely made from a rubber and ethyl vinyl acetate (EVA) compound. The end result is a mat with the durability of rubber and the lightness of EVA that can easily be installed, lifted and cleaned.
The reputation of the Equimat brand continues apace. Equimat’s brand ambassador is international show jumper, Tim Stockdale, who has supported the brand since the 1990s.
Equimat’s most prominent customer is probably the most famous woman in the world: in December 2002, Equimat stable mats were installed in the stables of two royal residences - Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle.
